The third round of the highly anticipated Pop, Shop, and Shine pop-up in Room 9 was nothing short of magnificent. Dr Madhavi Chowdari organised the event, which featured an extraordinary assortment of handcrafted textiles, couture, and artisanal works, emphasising the significance of conserving India's ancient weaving traditions.
With over 30 exclusive businesses and exceptional artisans, the event showcased a colourful blend of innovation, artistry, and community spirit. Among the many highlights was the appearance of star guest Dimple Hayathi, who graced the occasion in an elegant handmade saree. Her advocacy for Indian handlooms aligned perfectly with the event's theme.
“Wearing a handwoven saree is more than just fashion—it’s about carrying forward a legacy,” said Dimple Hayathi. “Every thread tells a story of skill, patience, and tradition. It’s crucial that we support and celebrate our artisans, ensuring that these beautiful weaves continue to thrive for generations to come.”
A PLATFORM FOR CRAFT AND CREATIVITY

The Pop, Shop & Shine pop-up has earned a reputation as more than just a shopping event; it is a celebration of craftsmanship, sustainability, and cultural heritage. Visitors could browse a gorgeous range of handwoven sarees, custom jewellery, and handcrafted lifestyle products, all of which bear the mark of expert artisans, at carefully curated stalls. Dr Madhavi Chowdari, an ardent supporter of sustainable fashion and heritage textiles, has been instrumental in creating a venue for craftsmen and designers to present their work. Her dedication to "Save the Weave" has resulted in numerous efforts that bridge the gap between traditional handicraft and modern commerce.
“Indian handlooms are not just fabrics; they are legacies passed down through generations,” she shared. “By choosing handwoven textiles, we are not only embracing sustainable fashion but also supporting the livelihoods of weavers who dedicate their lives to this extraordinary art.”
HONOURING INDIA’S WEAVING LEGACY
The modern marketplace presents challenges to India's rich textile legacy, which includes different handloom practices. The rise of quick fashion and mass-produced textiles has resulted in a drop in demand for handwoven materials, threatening the very survival of skilled craftspeople. Pop, Shop, and Shine events play an important role in revitalising enthusiasm for handlooms by encouraging purchasers to invest in pieces with meaning and cultural relevance. Draped in the timeless beauty of Indian weaving, each saree at the event was more than simply clothing; it was a celebration of heritage, artistry, and storytelling.
Through such initiatives, the message was clear: respecting our roots and supporting craftspeople is an obligation, not a choice.

Pop, Shop & Shine has grown stronger with each edition, serving as a lighthouse for individuals who trust in the power of heritage and workmanship. The ceremony ended on a high note, leaving behind a powerful message to maintain the weave and keep our legacy alive, one thread at a time.
